Clinic Website: 10 Must-Have Sections for Doctors and Clinics in India
By Nishant · · 4 min read
Most patients find a clinic on Google Maps or a “doctor near me” search, then open the website to decide. In under a minute they want to know who the doctor is, what is treated, when the clinic is open and how to book. A clinic website that answers those four things clearly gets the call; one that doesn't sends the patient back to the search results.
The 10 sections every clinic website needs
1. A clear first screen
Clinic name, speciality, area, and two buttons: “Book appointment” and “Call”. On mobile these should be visible without scrolling.
2. Doctor profile
Photo, qualifications (MBBS, MD, BDS and so on), registration number, years of practice and hospital affiliations. Patients read this section closely before choosing a doctor.
3. Treatments and services
A card for each treatment with a short plain-language explanation. Better still, give major treatments their own page: a page about “root canal treatment in Dwarka” can rank for that search, while one long list rarely ranks for anything.
4. Timings and days
Morning and evening OPD hours, the weekly off and holiday timings. Keep them identical to your Google Business Profile.
5. Appointment form
Name, phone, preferred date and the problem or department. Keep it short; the receptionist confirms by phone or WhatsApp.
6. Call and WhatsApp buttons
Many patients prefer to message first. A floating WhatsApp button turns that into a booking. Here is how to add a WhatsApp button to a website.
7. Location and map
Full address, landmark, an embedded Google Map and parking information.
8. Facilities
Equipment, in-house lab or X-ray, wheelchair access, cashless insurance tie-ups. These details often decide between two similar clinics.
9. FAQs
Fees, first-visit process, documents to bring, whether walk-ins are accepted. FAQs answer objections and are often quoted by Google and AI assistants.
10. Schema markup
MedicalClinic or Physician structured data tells Google your clinic type, address, hours and phone. See our guide to schema markup for local business websites.
What to avoid on a doctor's website in India
India's medical ethics rules for registered practitioners restrict self-promotion. Keep the website factual and informational: qualifications, services, timings and contact details. Avoid claims such as “best doctor in the city”, guaranteed results, and patient testimonials that promise outcomes. Before-and-after photos should only be used with written patient consent. If in doubt, check the current guidance from the National Medical Commission or your state council.
Clinic website vs a Practo-only listing
Directory listings are useful, but they show competing doctors on the same page and you do not control the content. Your own website ranks for your name and treatments, carries your own booking form, and builds trust that a listing can't.
Templates built for clinics
Our healthcare website templates cover the core of this list: service cards, an appointment or enquiry form, call and WhatsApp buttons and schema markup. You add your doctor details, timings and photos.
- CarePlus for multi-speciality clinics and hospitals
- SmileCraft for dental clinics
- TrueTest Labs for pathology labs and diagnostic centres
- MoveWell for physiotherapy, DermaGlow for skin clinics and ClearSight for eye clinics
Frequently asked questions
What should a clinic website include?
At minimum: doctor profile with qualifications, treatments, timings, an appointment form, call and WhatsApp buttons, address with map, and FAQs.
Can doctors advertise on their website in India?
A factual website listing qualifications, services, timings and contact details is common practice. Avoid promotional claims, guaranteed results and outcome-based testimonials, and check current National Medical Commission guidance.
How much does a clinic website cost?
A ready-made clinic website template costs ₹999 to ₹1,499 one time on Web Template Hub, plus domain and hosting. A custom-built site usually costs more.
Do I need a website if I am on Practo or Justdial?
Listings help, but they show competitors next to you. Your own website ranks for your name and treatments and keeps patients on your page.
